Brown Son of Lorca
A Boy Reclaimed in Poems, Stories & Voice

Released June 9, 2025 : Available Now on Amazon Kindle and
Amazon Books

Brown Son of Lorca is the most personal work I’ve ever written. It is a collection of poems and short prose that explores what it means to grow up brown—what it means to remember, to belong, and to resist forgetting. The boy who walks through these pages—curious, quiet, determined—is me, and he is also so many others.

Lorca’s spirit runs through every line. His courage, lyricism, and tragic beauty remain touchstones for me—not just as a writer, but as someone who knows what it means to live at the intersection of silence and voice.

This book is a reclamation.
Of memory. Of identity. Of self.
I offer it in hope, in gratitude, and in truth.

Brown Son of Lorca was officially released on June 9, 2025, the same day I presented selections from the book in New York City at La Nacional, as part of Danisarte’s celebration of the life and legacy of Federico García Lorca, founded by acclaimed actress Alicia Kaplan.
