Honoring Lorca in New York: A Night of Poetry, Memory & Voice
June 9, 2025 | La Nacional, New York City
Picture
On June 9, I’ll be in New York City to take part in a very special evening celebrating the life, work, and enduring legacy of Federico García Lorca, hosted by Danisarte at La Nacional—a cultural institution in the heart of Manhattan dedicated to Spanish and Latin American art, literature, and performance.

Danisarte, founded by the acclaimed actress Alicia Kaplan, is a nonprofit organization known for its dedication to producing socially relevant, multilingual theater and elevating underrepresented voices. Alicia’s passion for the stage and for nurturing cultural memory through performance is the reason this night exists—and I’m honored to be part of it.

During the evening, I will be reading three poems and performing a short theatrical piece from my upcoming book Brown Son of Lorca, which officially releases that day. It’s a full-circle moment—presenting this work inspired by Lorca, on the stage of an organization that embodies everything he stood for: truth, courage, and the beauty of language.
Location:
La Nacional – Spanish Benevolent Society
239 W 14th St, New York, NY 10011

Presented by: Danisarte, under the artistic direction of Alicia Kaplan

This event is open to the public. Come for the poetry, stay for the passion.
My Off-Broadway Debut: Undesirable Secrets at United Solo

November 1, 2025 | Theatre Row, New York City
Picture
This fall, I’ll be taking the stage Off-Broadway in the world premiere of my one-man play Undesirable Secrets, presented as part of the acclaimed United Solo Theatre Festival in New York City. The performance will take place November 1, 2025, at the legendary Theatre Row.

This moment marks not just a milestone in my career—but a moment of truth for a story that has been buried too long.
Undesirable Secrets is based on the harrowing yet inspiring true story of Anthony C. Acevedo, a Mexican American WWII medic who became the first registered Mexican American Holocaust survivor. Held prisoner at Berga an der Elster, a Nazi slave labor camp, Anthony carried unspeakable trauma—and chose silence, until years later, he finally spoke up. This is a story about survival, shame, resilience, and the cost of keeping secrets for too long.

In this powerful solo performance, I embody Anthony's voice—his courage, his humor, his heartbreak—bringing to light a chapter of American and world history too few have heard. The show premiered in workshop form to critical praise and now steps onto the Off-Broadway stage where it belongs.

Tickets will be available soon through United Solo and Theatre Row. Early booking is encouraged—this is a one-night-only event.
 Location:
Theatre Row
410 W 42nd Street, New York, NY 10036
(Located in the heart of NYC’s Theatre District)

Presented by:
United Solo – the world’s largest solo theatre festival
Come witness a story that demands to be heard. One performance. One voice. One night only.
